Exercise Physiology

AAESS incorporated in 1991, is the peak body representing the interests of Exercise Physiologists in Australia. Musculoskeletal rehabilitation is a specialist accreditation, open only to those full members with the necessary knowledge, skills and experiences to attain this status.

Our Exercise Physiologists are accredited with ESSA, and advocate a multi-disciplinary approach to the management of musculoskeletal injuries, arthritis, joint replacements, knee reconstruction surgery, arthroscopic surgery, fractures, work injury and motor vehicle rehabilitation, and articular cartilage implantation (MACI®).

”Specialists recommend that people do at least double the suggested 30 minutes of exercise a day to remain healthy and prevent obesity – one of the main risk factors for Type II diabetes.” Our weight management and diabetes prevention program was developed in conjuction with Dr Tim Welborn (Clinical Professor, UWA), and nutritionist Jo Beer (BSc. hons, Director of Revitalise). www.revitalise.com.au

Programs are generally 6 weeks in length with recommended twice weekly visits for a minimum of one hour. The individualised treatment program includes land-based resistance and aerobic exercise, hydrotherapy and remedial massage.

GPs can refer patients on the enhanced primary care plan.
